Scholarship Program

MSO Scholarship Criteria:

Contributions for each tax credit, the Original and the Plus, will be kept separate. Scholarship qualifications will have the same criteria for each tax credit except for the PLUS criteria will include stipulations stated below.

Several factors are evaluated for the Original and PLUS contributions. Such factors include but are not limited to: family needs (i.e.: financial, health, employment, etc.), recommendation from the participating school’s administration, parent’s participation in the school, and the students Montessori experience. The desire of the donor will be reviewed in determining the grant allocation. However, the recommendation of the donor is subject to the complete and sole discretion of MSO.

To qualify for a scholarship under the PLUS  income tax credit, the student must meet one of the following requirements: 1.Attended a public school as a full-time student for at least 90 days of the prior fiscal year and then transferred from the public school to a private school; or 2. Is enrolling in a private school kindergarten; or 3. Is enrolling in a private preschool program for students with disabilities; or 4. Is a dependent of a member of the armed forces of the United States who is stationed in Arizona pursuant to military orders; or Received for any year a scholarship under one of the above criteria OR from the low income corporate donation program or the disabled/displaced corporate donation program if the child continued to attend a private school in subsequent years.  Click here to Apply

Original Scholarship Program

Original scholarships awarded during FY 2016/17 to students eligible for free or reduced-price lunches:

Amount as a percentage of all original scholarships = 27%

Amount of scholarships awarded = $104,900

Original scholarships awarded during FY2016/17 to students whose family income exceeds the threshold for free or reduced-price lunches but does not exceed 185% of the eligibility requirements:

Amount as percentage of all original scholarships = 73%

Amount of scholarships awarded = $285,856

Switcher Scholarship Program

Switcher scholarships awarded during FY 2016/17 to students eligible for free or reduced-price lunches:

Amount as a percentage of all original scholarships = 36%

Amount of scholarships awarded = $61,998

Switcher scholarships awarded during FY2016/17 to students whose family income exceeds the threshold for free or reduced-price lunches but does not exceed 185% of the eligibility requirements:

Amount as percentage of all original scholarships = 64%

Amount of scholarships awarded = $108,348
